I wasn't a fan of the cities or towns in India, so on this day I set out for a walk along the train tracks through the hills. It was about eleven miles to the next town, and for the first time since I came to India I spent a day completely relaxed. Birds were out in the trees, tea and coffee plantations lined the route, and overall it was just a great way to spend a day. Once I reached the town of Conoor I hopped on the train and was back in Ooty by sundown.
